This kitchen wand has been hand forged entirely from recycled high carbon steel on the wild and windy island of Ireland by me (Jenna-an artist/metalsmith who collaborates with fire to explore the alchemy of transformation through creative exploration).
A knife for the coffee lover- this blade has a patina created from coffee! The blade was brewed in a strong cup of coffee for several days to give it this protective dark patina). This Knife possesses a broad tang handle with uniquely patinated recycled copper scales and a soldered on leaf crafted from recycled sterling silver. These incredibly durable materials have been transformed into an easy to use knife, that can be utilised in the kitchen or brought on adventures to aid in your camping meals, as the compact size makes it easy to pack and transport. I view this design as a piece of functional sculpture that can be utilised to cut up many types of foods. It is not designed to cut through bone. It has a blade length of 80mm and a handle length of 73mm. It has a spine thickness of 3mm tapering to 1mm and an HRC of approximately 59-60.
1% of this sale goes directly to an environmental grassroots organisation.
This knife is made of high carbon steel, therefore it will naturally patina when exposed to moisture. To keep your knife in its best condition; hand wash your knife after use (do not put it in the dishwasher), dry your knife directly after washing, apply some food grade mineral oil to your knife after drying.
Do not be alarmed when you see the patina forming, a patina will help create a barrier against the formation of rust.
*Please be advised that- unfortunately I cannot post to the USA and Canada at this time. If purchasing from outside of the United Kingdom (I am posting from Northern Ireland) -some countries may require you to pay an import tax at your local post office when you collect your knife.
