Business philosophy: A promise to myself, and to my customers

Why does jennabuilds exist?

I read a quote some time ago, it resonated so deeply that it has stuck with me ever since, -“I do it because I can’t not do it”. jennabuilds exists, simply because it can’t not exist. This may sound dramatic, but I know that this will resonate with my fellow creatives out there. Creativity is so intertwined with my being that when I don’t create, part of me dies. The liberation that comes from not resisting the flow of creativity, makes me feel truly alive; whether that be squelching my hands into the mud of the earth and feeling all of its textures or refining precious elements through technical processes.

After experiencing the full detrimental impact that occurs when this creativity is suppressed, I promised myself that I would no longer be the blockade. The repression of creativity and true self-expression can cause devastating impacts to ones mental and therefore physical health. Subsequently I promise to let my creativity flow and encourage others to do the same.

My goals

I endeavor to lighten and interrupt the daily grind and show people that there is more to life than drudgery and monotony, by opening their eyes to the beauty that lies right in front of them.

I don’t want to participate in the wasteful, excessive consumerist culture that is resulting in the decimation of planet earth and its inhabitants. I will achieve this by using materials that cause as little harm to the environment as possible and are sourced from sustainable and ethical origins, with the majority of materials being recycled from what was previously destined for landfill.

I aim to craft and sculpt new creations that are multi-functional, durable and long lasting, so I am not a participant in the throw away culture.

I promise to be mindful of and to continually access my resource consumption and to intentionally invest love and attention into every creation, whilst never viewing them as merely numbers on a production line.

I aspire for the love that goes into the creation of each item to be passed on to whoever comes into contact with it. My creations are as much everyone else’s as my own, a collaboration of creativity that is ever growing and morphing.

I aim to show people the benefits of investing time, energy and love into the creation of a totally individual and unique item and spread a warm smile from one heart to the next.

Refunds and Repair policy

It is extremely important to me that the items I create are of the highest quality and ensure that they are durable for the purpose in which they were made. If you have any problems with an item you have purchased, please contact me. It is very important that I hear feed back from my customers. I will be truly grateful for any feedback and promise to listen to and take appropriate action on any concerns you may have.

There is a 14 day return policy, however if there is a problem with your item please contact me and I will try to aid in any way I can. In the unlikely event that your item has broken when being used for its particular function, please send me a photo and some information about the problem and I will be able to inform you if I can repair it. If it is not repairable I can offer you an exchange or refund (I will reimburse you for any return postage costs). Please be informed that I cannot repair or refund any knife that has been damaged when used inappropriately, for example it is never appropriate to use these knives on metal surfaces or to open metal containers. Please ensure the HRC of the knife is adequate for the activity you wish to perform. If the blade has a higher HRC (59-61) it will hold its edge longer but the blade will be more brittle. Blades with a lower HRC (56-58) are more malleable but it wont hold its edge as long.

Shipping

I only ship with tracked postage as this reduces the risk of lost items in transit. Australia post estimates a delivery time of 5 business days for national postage and a delivery time of 10-15 business days for international postage (this can vary country to country and may take longer depending on the country and if you are in a rural area). These are just estimates and postal delivery times may vary. This is why I only post with tracked postage so both the customer and myself can stay informed about the status of a package. I also only receive orders every few days as I live without internet and can only receive orders when I travel into an area with phone reception, therefore I may take a few days before your order is processed and posted. If your postal addresses is not available when you try to process an order please contact me and I will correct this. Thank you for your patience. Many thanks, Jenna.
